I don't know much about Dr. White's politics but this article paints a
pretty positive picture of some of the reforms he's trying to get done. I
thought the article was worth passing along as it does highlight lots of
things that can go wrong in government or any other large organization. I
was rather struck by the following excerpt to where it basically admits that
the private route (no pun intended) was half the cost.
EXCERPT:
IPS spends $1,500 per year to transport one student on its buses. Each bus
route run by the contractor costs half of what it would cost IPS to do the
job itself. And the district could buy IndyGo passes for 13,000 middle- and
high-schoolers. Each pass would cost $330 per year, auditors said.
That would add up to at least $5.4 million in savings.
